Essential Job Functions

A regional CPA firm in the San Fernando Valley is looking for a staff auditor who will be responsible for audit and attest work on a number of clients from a variety of industries. Clients include both privately held and publicly held companies, nonprofit organizations, and pension plans. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performance and documentation of audit and attest engagements (audits, reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures, etc.)
  • Preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP
  • Analyze client prepared documents, understand client processes, and perform inquiries of client personnel.
  • Prepare well-organized, complete, and accurate work papers that support audit opinions and review, compilation, and attest reports.
  • Be responsible for self-reviewing work. This includes double checking mathematical calculations and the accuracy of factual information, as well as double checking references between work papers.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with clients and other team members.
  • Research US GAAP, GAAS, and SEC requirements
  • Monitor work assignments for timely completion, while being conscious of budgets, and effective communication of status to manager/partner on a regular basis.
  • Manage schedule, including deadlines for clients assigned, to attend or participate in 40 hours of continuing education courses each year, paid for by the firm.

In order to be successful in this position, the auditor will have to demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of procedures performed and work paper documentation technique, as well as demonstrate the ability to multi-task, meet client and internal deadlines, understand and perform work utilizing the firm's processes and methods, be efficient in the performance of work assigned, and be technologically savvy and sound, especially in use of the software programs we utilize.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • 3-4 years accounting or auditing experience in a CPA firm

Base Salary is competitive; there is a competitive health benefit plan including participation in our 401(k) program.  We also offer a generous benefits program, including 20 paid days off per year for first year employees, continuing education.
