About The Position

The Systems Administrator is responsible for server administration, data repository, maintenance of organization’s hardware, software and related IT infrastructure. The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the functionality, security, and integrity of our information systems, while promptly diagnosing and resolving performance issues as part of a dedicated support team.

About You

You are a problem solver. You have the ability to provide coaching and knowledge transfer to team members, including ensuring that staff have proper understanding of application functionality and system technologies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, plan, integrates, tests, implements, documents and enhances the physical and logical components of a large complex system or network. Analyzes and evaluates system software, hardware and communications strategies. Researches and conducts feasibility studies on new hardware and software. Establishes hardware and software standards.
  • Facilitates and monitors technical support activities related to complex large systems or networks.
  • Troubleshoots and supports the system or network in order to maintain the system or network’s integrity and reliability.
  • Establishes and implements computer system service agreements with maintenance service providers.
  • Handles Level II support/escalations for the IT team.
  • Serves as the Project Manager/Engineer for internal projects and collaborates with managed service provider (MSP) for their projects.
  • Systems monitoring/maintenance not handled by MSP (non-NOC monitoring - server Room and IT closet software and physical maintenance).
  • On-call for emergencies and IT related events.
  • Coaches and mentors the IT team.
  • Demonstrates clear problem management skills and the ability to work well with a team
  • Has a comprehensive working knowledge of system security.
  • Can work independently as well as with internal/external support resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or 3 or more years applicable experience required
  • Knowledge of office productivity software such as Office 365 etc.
  • Experience in system administration and help desk support
  • Strong IT generalist knowledge (e.g., common operating systems, etc.)
  • High level understanding of application/infrastructure lifecycle
  • Strong IT process understanding
  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and interaction with people

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical and administration knowledge/usage of data management platform
  • Proficiency in implementation and operational experience with highly available, reliable, and scalable, distributed software system
  • Familiar with Vmware, Aruba Networks, Solar Winds, G-Suite, and MSSQL
  • Experience in education, non-profit, religious, or event industries
  • CCNA certification
