Aquatics Supervisor Needed

Camp Wise, Stephen Wise Temple, Los Angeles, CA

Camp Wise, Los Angeles' premier summer day camp at the Stephen Wise Temple campus, is looking for an experienced, responsible, and fun Aquatics Supervisor to join the summer team. The aquatics staff works closely with other counselors and the leadership team to create a safe and fun pool experience for the 250+ campers.

Aquatics Supervisor

The Aquatics Supervisor at Camp Wise is responsible for overseeing the pool and aquatics staff for all summer activities including:

  • Camp Wise Group Swim
  • Freedom School Group Swim
  • Afternoon Swim Lessons
  • Afternoon Swim Team

The Aquatics Supervisor works from 9am-5pm Monday through Thursday and 9am-3pm on Friday, unless there is a cancellation of swim times.

The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for opening and closing the pool, the pool office, responding to parent inquiries, scheduling swim lessons and swim team, communicating daily with the Camp Wise directors about any issues, schedule changes and staffing questions or concerns. These responsibilities can be taken care of in the morning and on breaks between groups in the pool, as they will be on deck as well giving the lifeguards breaks as needed.

The Aquatics Supervisor reports to the Camp Wise director. He/she is also responsible for hiring and training lifeguards and swim instructors with the guidance and approval of the Camp Wise Director. The aquatics staff reports directly to the Aquatics Supervisor and the Camp Wise office processes the staff payroll with the assistance of the Aquatics Supervisor. The Aquatics Supervisor will attend Camp orientation and spend some of the time training his/her own staff for summer.

 

Dates:  Staff Orientation: June 12-August 4,  Monday-Thursday 5-8:30pm, Friday 10am-4pm

Seven weeks of Camp: June 19 – August 4

Basic Skills Required

  • Lifeguard Certification
  • Experience teaching swim lessons to children individually and in groups
  • Experience managing a team and supervising staff
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Experience working with children and between the ages of 3 and 18
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be an independent self-starter
  • Ability to organize and maintain schedules for lessons and staff
